Let me tell you about this iconic lyric writer, gus! 🤟

Hi everyone 😊 how are we today? This is gone a be one weird blog post but what the heck. I am fascinated in a platonic way with someone I have never met before and it is no other than “the prince of bedroom pop” “Bren” or as I know him, his stage name, Gus Dapperton.

I tuned into a podcast interviewing Gus. It was a pleasant surprise that I was able to predict some of his answers to the speed round questions because I am an expert at the game jeopardy, unless I lose because I blurt out the answer without adding “what is”.

Anyway, it was weird to hear a singers voice just talking. Hearing Gus talking opposed to singing, was equivalent to 13-year-old me hearing the english voice actor for L from Death Note talk without sounding filled with hurt, as Gus sings sad but rad songs.

Suddenly, I thought: “He is an indie producer filled with great sounds, I must support him!”

The dilemma

I do not have a record player and buying vinyls is the BEST way to support the artist behind the art.

The Solutions

• I could buy the orca Deluxe vinyl and gift it to my boyfriend for Valentine’s 💝 (he has a record player)
• I could buy on iTunes (I bought Orca and Fill me up Anthem.)
• I could attend his zooms online event
• I could comment on his insta to improve the algorithm
• I went to the all things go concert but 😭 I was not his stage why (two pavilions)

I went through this kind of existential crisis. I was going through a breakup; I tore my acl and my meniscus and had to have surgery, so I was out of school for a few months. Then my computer crashed, which was like, my whole life. So when I came out of it, I started making music that, I think, was most true to me.

Commentary on the music

My only complaint is that there are no youtube karaoke to gus except for that one song … supalonley? Super lonley… soup lonely. Which i sang at my bf’s house. Ha ha ha 😝 i want to sing all of them especially grim. So i just sing over gus which is, like, idk, what his sister does; but she does it better … so much better. *-*

Fun fact: I named my betta fish orca after his album. The symbolism is real.
